A recognition dinner was held to honor retiring Shepherd (Jack West) and Deacon (Stanley Smith), to pay tribute to their many faithful years of oversight and dedication in the Lord's church. After a delicious meal, chosen speakers appeared at the podium to both "honor" and "roast" these fine men. As the evening drew to a close, Jack and Stanley were given equal opportunity to reply to comments made throughout the evening, and even do a little "roasting" of their own. The evening closed with many hand-shakes and hugs being given to Jack and Stanley, and to their wonderful wives Patty and Louise. A bitter sweet occasion to see these men leaving the capacity of Shepherd and Deacon, yet sharing in the joy of knowing these men continue to faithfully serve Christ in their lives, and in the Lord's body at Dix Road.
